Perception Honored Stan’s Legendary Cameos for a Heartfelt Thank You
New York, NY:
Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is making a big impact at the box office and marks a milestone in the MCU as their first female-led solo Super Hero film. While the film itself will surely not disappoint, as the lights in the theater dim, audiences will be treated to another big moment in Marvel Studios’ history. Captain Marvel opens with a special Marvel Studios fanfare paying tribute to Stan Lee, the man who started it all.
After Stan’s passing in November, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige knew it was important for the studio to pay tribute in a fitting way in their next film. Ultimately he decided to lead with a celebration of his legacy and history in the films by making the logo all Stan. When the Marvel Studios team reached out to Perception, the creative team was blown away by their vision to capture the gratitude universally felt toward Stan and signed up for the collaboration.
“We were so honored to be involved in this very special tribute. We loved the idea of taking the iconic Marvel Studios sequence that billions of fans have come to know and love and making it all about Stan Lee – from start to finish!”
The opening sequence is a celebration of Stan Lee’s place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe beginning with iconic script lines that fly by as the audience sees concept art of his many appearances. Transitioning into “the vault”, we are surrounded by Marvel Studios film clips where the multitude of Stan’s cameos have taken over.
“This is the section that any Marvel fan will watch over and over to see if they can identify all of the various Stan cameos over the years,” said Eric Daly, Perception’s Senior Producer.
The final button on the tribute is a true moment of gratitude. The Marvel Studios and the Perception team explored several ways to end the sequence to find what felt appropriate and genuine. In the end, a simple “Thank You” spoke the loudest from his friends, his fans, and the characters he created.
The entire Perception team was honored to be a part of this celebration of Stan Lee’s life and legacy and they are excited to share it with the world. A big thank you to the Marvel Studios executive team who were instrumental in crafting an elegant and fitting tribute to Stan Lee.
